This would help the increase in demand and output, delivering coal orders via the many lorries and trains, dealing with up to as much as 2,000.000 tons a year.

There were many underground tunnels that connected neighbouring pits to include Annesley. To the other direction there were underground roadways that went out towards Moorgreen pit and this was to go on and help minimise the issues with water build up and called the Moorgreen Connection.
