radfordRadford Colliery employed miners to work underground but also had many that worked on the surface. The shaft once completed was fourteen feet in diameter and went on to share ventilation mechanisms underground with Wollaton pit which was a short distance away. A fan was placed at the pit surface of Wollaton Colliery and was 42 feet in diameter, producing a current between the two shafts.
